Do the 55mm and 70mm shorter stems have the same travel as the longer stems?Updated a month ago

Yes, they do. All of our stems, including the shorter 55mm and 70mm options, are engineered with the same the same ShockStop technology to provide a maximum of 20 degrees of travel.

The shorter length creates a significant difference in leverage compared to the longer stems (like the 100mm). This reduced leverage means the shorter stems require a much lighter load to engage the suspension.

To compensate for this:

• Internal Suspension Re-Engineering: We completely re-engineered the internal suspension and elastomers specifically for the 55mm and 70mm stems.

• Softer Elastomers: The shorter stems come with much softer elastomer options to ensure the suspension engages properly under normal riding load.

• Ride Feel: When installed correctly according to the elastomer selection chart, the ride feel is designed to be consistent with our longer stems.

Important Compatibility Note

Due to this difference in leverage and the required load to engage the suspension, the 55mm and 70mm stems are not compatible with flat handlebars. The combination of the short stem length and a more upright seated position generally does not provide the rider weight needed to create sufficient load.
